One of my favorites from 69, mostly because I love the ones from 70!

Isn't it odd that this show which is labeled as a soundboard is still downloadable? Any reasoning behind this?

Shhhh...maybe they missed this one ;)

This is definitely a good Dark Star, havent heard it in a while but if i remember right the Tighten Up sequence is pretty much what makes this one worthwhile; as light into ashes says in his review this show is very off kilter with Jerry breaking strings a lot. I'll have to check out this show again tonight though...

The Tighten Up sequence is not what makes this one worthwhile...that's just a brief interlude while Jerry changes a string... The Star up til then is really outstanding, though. And the rest of the show is a mess!

Heard it again tonight...obviously I didn't remember it all that well 'cause I'd have to agree with you somewhat; the Tighten Up is just a seed really. This Star still feels somewhat disjointed and awkward to my ears, (probably much to do with the sting change) even though there are some quality moments. I certainly enjoy the versions later in the fall better (i.e. 10/25 or 11/2/69) where they really start to develop the thematic jamming.
